Review for Hold my Breath

hmbreview

Synopsis

Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.

In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

Joint Review-001

It seems as though every time I read a Ginger Scott book, I go into total book hangover when I’m done! I wish they would never end.

I know going into a Ginger Scott book that it will have twists and turns, a roller coaster of emotions, characters I will fall in love with, and a story that will stick with me. Hold My Breath was no exception to this rule.

Rebecca ~
I completely agree. Ginger Scott is one of the most emotional authors I read, and I always count on having my heart ripped to shreds. From the prologue it becomes apparent Will and Maddy are going to have the a heartbreaking story to tell. My heart was literally in my throat waiting for this book to unfold.

“You’re the only thing that doesn’t make me want to drown”

Tracy ~
Yes! I kept trying to guess what was going to happen. And I too could tell from the prologue that I needed to know these two characters’ stories. Will stole my heart from the beginning. My heart broke for him.

Rebecca ~
Oh yes, Will definitely steals this book. He has so much to bare, but his resiliency amazed me. Maddy was a little more rough around the edges and it took me a significant portion of the book to fully appreciate her character. The struggle to ignore their attraction was complete torture, and I loved every moment.

Tracy ~
You do love a slow burn, and this was definitely that. In fact, I felt like their connection was just one piece of this story, watching them overcome what they had experienced in their lives was what I loved.

“I think I came here knowing that you were my only shot at peace.”

Rebecca ~
I felt the added storylines brought depth and so much heart to this story, and it wouldn’t have been the same without them. I especially adored Maddy’s parents. Ginger always does an amazing job with her parental relationships. Maddy is shaped by their love and guidance.

Tracy ~
Yes, and the same with Will’s uncle. Not only did I love his relationship with Will, but I loved the little detail that he worked on clocks. Ginger writing always makes me feel like I’m part of the story and that I really feel what they are feeling and getting both points of view makes that connection even stronger.

Rebecca ~
Yes! The dual points of view are spectacular and with all the twists and turns, I liked knowing what Maddy and Will are experiencing. Ginger Scott continues to captivate me with her emotional storylines. In the last two years, she has become one of my top three NA authors.

Tracy ~
This book continues my love of all things written by Ginger Scott.  She’s an automatic one-click for me and an author I always love to recommend.
