Lucy Fitzpatrick doesn’t like rugby.
As the little sister of Ireland’s most infamous rugby player, Lucy can’t seem to escape the championship-sized shadow cast by her big brother, or her mother’s frequent attempts to micromanage her future. Her rainbow hair is as free-spirited as her quest for inner peace, yet overbearing expectations keep bringing her down. And when she’s down, her compulsive little problem lands her in seriously big trouble.
Sean Cassidy is a cold-hearted brute… or so he’s been told. Frequently. By everyone.
His blonde locks, baby blues, and rock hard bod make ladies the world over drool with desire. As the rugby world’s second most infamous player, he should be basking in his success. But Sean has never been content settling for second place, and his frequent confrontations with Lucy’s big brother leave him cold. And when he’s cold, his compulsive little problem lands him in the lap of Lucy Fitzpatrick.
Sean has a problem only Lucy can solve. Lucy has a problem only Sean can fix. The solution seems obvious: you scratch my back, and I’ll bail you out of jail. But when their business arrangement unexpectedly leaves Sean scorching hot and Lucy on the precipice of inner peace, can they convince the world—and Lucy’s big brother in particular—that this is the real deal?
Either way, both the Player and the Pixie are about to teach each other some pretty monumental lessons about family, life, but most importantly, love.
How can someone so smokin’ hot be so bad in bed? I mean, Sean Cassidy is absolute rubbish. RUBBISH. He is the epitome of walking, talking false advertising and I want a refund! Plus he’s an arsehole. So… what is wrong with me that I can’t stop thinking about him?
The Pixie and the Player is a full-length, romantic comedy novel, can be read as a standalone, and is the second book in the Rugby Series.
In The Hooker and the Hermit, I adored Lucy and had nothing but disdain for Sean, so naturally I couldn’t wait to see how this story line would unfold. There’s nothing better than a forbidden romance with enemies to lovers mixed together. As with all things Penny Reid, I never get what I expect, but I love it even more because of it. This is hands downs my favorite romance comedy of 2016.
Sean+Lucy = Spectacular
Lucy is just awesome. She has a larger than life personality and her devotion to her family is endearing. She is certainly not without flaws, and it makes her even more lovable. She is the type of character you wish were real and you could be friends with. I especially appreciate how confident she is in her sexuality. This is one of the few romance books I’ve read where the lady is definitely in charge in the bedroom, and it was refreshingly hot.
Lucy Fitzpatrick was my drug of choice, and has quickly become a necessity. I had no desire to contemplate rehab.
It took most of the book for Sean to fully win me over, but what an exciting time it was. He has a tough outer shell, and being inside his head was quite interesting. I was constantly surprised by his inner dialogue. It is nice knowing that not all insanely hot guys are perfect in the bedroom. Seeing his progression was one of my favorite aspects of the book. He transforms from the obnoxious playboy to a sensual and caring man.
“We all have depth, Sean. It’s a side effect of being human.”
The chemistry between Lucy and Sean is intense from the beginning, however it definitely isn’t a traditional romance feel. While I thought the book was headed in one direction (I didn’t read the blurb before reading), it took me someplace completely different. There are a lot of hilarious moments, but there is mild angst built into this book as well. There is a perfect balance of romance and comedy, and I enjoyed it even more than The Hooker and the Hermit. Of course, I loved seeing Ronan and Annie again. All of the supporting cast is fun, and I definitely see several potential books for this series.
This is the second book I’ve read from the duo of Reed/Cosway, and it is once again completely seamless. I have no idea which author writes which POV, and if I hadn’t known going into this that it is a two author project, I would have never known. I cannot wait for the next installment of the series and have no doubt Lucy and Sean will make some appearances. If you are looking for a fun but sexy book, I highly recommend this one.

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).

By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
