Over the last several months, I have become obsessed with this series. Each book has contained explosive revelations and edge of your seat cliff hangers. Third Debt not only surpasses the previous books, but this is hands down my favorite book of the series. Pepper Winters has delivered her best work to date and has solidified herself as my Queen of Darkness.

After an intense Prologue and opening chapter, Third Debt picks up immediately following the explosive ending of the last book. Nila has been returned to her family. Although she should be happy with her new found freedom, she learns just how deep her love for Jethro runs. She can’t adjust to “normal” life without the man she not only loves but is desperate to save. My heart ached for Nila as she fights to return to the hell she has been living for the last months. There is nothing she won’t do for Jethro.
I came to find you again. I came to remind you of what we have. I came for so many reasons, Jethro, but most of all, I came to save you.
Jethro quickly spirals out of control as he is abused and manipulated by his father. Cut plays a more significant role in the book and his evil is revealed in depth. He is the most vile of villains, and my disgust of him definitely rose to a new level. With Cut’s involvement, there is also more Daniel and Kres. We learn more about the family business and the levels of power they truly have. My heart ached for Jethro as he battles to control his sanity and his all consuming need for Nila. Secrets about the Hawk family are revealed, including pertinent information about Jethro and his “condition”. I have always had a soft spot for Kres and came to respect him even more after this book. He proves to be a valuable ally to both Nila and Jet while keeping secrets of his own buried. I have had mixed feelings about Jethro throughout this entire series, I hate him one moment only to adore him the next. I think he has finally won me over in this installment.

Of course, as with the previous books, the debt scene is quite brutal. It is so twisted, but I appreciate you never know what is going to happen or when. I couldn’t click the pages fast enough. I was literally sick to my stomach with worry. More bombshells are revealed that I never predicted. However, there is still so much we do not know about the debts and relationships between the characters. It is a never ending roller coaster ride, with countless twists and turns. At this point, I don’t even try to guess what will happen next. As Ms. Winters tells her readers, there is another insane cliffhanger. I was once again gripping my Kindle, wanting just ONE MORE chapter to appear. I am quite thankful there are only two books left in the series. My heart and mind cannot take much more. If you are a fan of dark reads, I cannot recommend this series enough!
