For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.
But lusty paradise is shattered.
Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.
Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.
Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?
A New Adult Dark Contemporary Romance, not suitable for people sensitive to grief, slavery, and hard to read subjects. A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough.
3.5-4 Stars for me. This book felt like a good introduction to what will probably be a good series. In this book we are introduced to Tess Snow and Q. Tess is a young woman who often feels tossed aside and having to hide her true feelings to prevent more people leaving her behind. Q is a troubled soul who’s past and current actions make you wonder if he is what Tess truly needs.
This story is told solely from Tess’s POV. We get a taste of Q in the epilogue (which reads more like a prologue for the next book) and I think being in his head will make for an compelling story.
Although this book had many things going on, I was never on pins and needles about that was going to happen next. That being said, I am still interested in following their story and will probably continue the rest of the series. The next book looks like it will be very different from the first. I still have questions from this book that will hopefully be answered in the next book.
Tears of Tess did not end with a crazy cliffhanger, so I do appreciate that.
“I’d gone my whole life thinking I was timid, brow-beaten, and unwanted by my family, only to find I was a lust-filled dancer, with so many dark desires.”~Tess
“Never again would I had my true feelings, or fail to chase what I truely desire. And what I desire most was freedom.” ~Tess
“Monsters find each other in the dark.” ~Q
